Elija OS

Accessibility

Elija OS ansehen

Why this matters more than usual here

Elija OS was built for a child who does not speak and does not read text. Accessibility is not a checklist here — it is the precondition for the app working at all.

What we have implemented

  • Picture before text: every activity can carry a symbol or photo; the child view works without reading ability.
  • Large targets: tap targets of at least 44 px, clear focus rings for keyboard and switch access.
  • Low stimulus: calm contrast, no flashing elements, reduced animation when the system's "reduce motion" setting is on.
  • Never colour alone: states are always also explained by an icon or text.
  • Screen readers: semantic structure, labelled controls, meaningful alternative text.

Known limits

Some analysis views (charts, study views) are not yet fully optimised for screen readers. We are working on it, preferring text alternatives over decorative fixes.
